Who’s Who: Philippa Gregory

The moment that changed me for ever was when I had my first seminar with my history professor at the University of Sussex. I realised that history would answer all the questions I had spent my life asking. It was an extraordinary moment.”
-Philippa Gregory
philippagregoryUnashamed promotion of my all time favorite author!!!!!!!! But no seriously, I would take a bullet for this woman. She is better than you in every possible way and more than you could ever hope to be.

Philippa Gregory was born in Kenya in 1954 and her family moved to England when she was a toddler. As an adult, she writes wonderful historical fiction stories about the court of England through the middle ages. My personal favorite are the ones about the court of Henry VIII and literally anything about Anne Boleyn that I can get my hands on. (A lot of historians and critics are actually pretty mad about the way Ms. Gregory portrays Anne Boleyn, but it is historical fiction after all, so I don’t mind as much.)

In addition to being an amazing author, she’s actually a super cool human being as well. She runs a small charity that builds wells in school gardens in The Gambia. The wells irrigate the school and community gardens and help feed people. The charity has also introduced a bee keeping program.

This wonderful woman has written so many books that honestly it is not feasible to feature them all individually here. I would recommend checking out her website for more information on her book series. Someday I hope to read all of her books in chronological order, but that would be quite an expensive and time consuming journey. Linking the books for purchase to this blog has been difficult because Ms. Gregory has written only about a billion books. For your convenience and my sanity, I’ve provided links where you can purchase each book in the series at the same time when I can.
